English & Math Placement

Coastline English & Math Requirements

All students graduating from Coastline with an AA/AS degree are required to demonstrate competency in math and English. Competency in English is demonstrated through completion of ENGL C100, ENGL C135, or equivalent. Competency in math is demonstrated through any of the following:

  • placement into MATHC100 or higher
  • completion of MATHC030 (or equivalent) or higher with a grade of "C" or better
  • completion of two years of high school algebra with a grade of "C" or better

Before Enrolling

It is recommended students submit proof of placement or use an alternate placement option prior to the end of their first semester of attendance and no later than four weeks prior to enrolling in a math or English course.

Coastline provides students with a variety of options for placement into math and English classes.

Any of the following options may be used for math and English placement and are subject to interpretation by Coastline College:
